EMSD#63’s Board needs to get their act together before the money runs out!

I admit it.  I had hoped for better news than this.

“Park Ridge Herald-Advocate

Hopefuls file for school board seats

December 14, 2010

By JENNIFER JOHNSON jjohnson@pioneerlocal.com

“Candidates for local school boards lined up to get their names on the ballot during the first official day of filing Monday….”

“… In East Maine School District 63, which serves a small portion of northern Park Ridge, incumbents John Jekot, Tom Simmons and Janet Kaczkowski filed petitions Monday to retain their seats on the board.”

BD Vice President John C. Jekot

Tom Simmons Board Member

When I first read the news I was disheartened.  Then I thought, “no, this is a good thing”.  These three, along with Board President, Jane Wojtkiewicz and Members Steven Levy, Sheila Urban and

 Bd President Jane Wojtkiewicz

Walter Gluzkin

Walter Gluzkin should remain on the Board.   They helped create the District’s financial problem.  Now they can stay and clean it up!

East Maine School District #63 is a small cash-strapped district with big problems.

When you see these Board Members, ask them to explain their last minute no-questions-asked passage of the $43.6 Million 2010-2011 Final Budget which included a ($4.3 Million deficit).

Enough said!

How come no one asks why not only do the big wigs in the district get paid the most ( i understand that), but why they don't pay for their own health insurance, etc...?

Districts such as EMSD#63 pay the health insurance, car maintenance, mileage, annuities, etc. because their Board’s have bought into the idea that paying the most, gets or keeps from loosing, the best. This is a concept propagated by the Superintendents themselves and in my experience; nothing could be further from the truth.

Superintendents, often site neighbor school district superintendent salaries and fringe benefits as examples. Unwitting Board Members, afraid of loosing “their” superintendent to another districts fantasy offer, give in to these oh-so-subtle-demands.

In the end, the Board by their actions perpetuate the fantasy and make’s real the lie.

All the names and pictures on this page need to changed!

Unfortunately, that will not happen with the next election. We're going to have to wait one more cycle.
